I LOVE TO DRAW!

HI! I am Lari Smith. I am excited to get this blog going because it represents a new adventure in my life. I have LOVED drawing forever. As a child I would "play sick" so I could stay home from school and I would lie on the couch drawing pictures hour after hour. When it came time to go to college, I found I was the alternate for an art scholarship at the University of Utah. Being the alternate didn't give me any scholarship money, so my mother encouraged me to be practical and become a nurse. So, I became a registered nurse AND over the course of the past 34 years married Michael and subsequently gave birth to 8 children and will soon have 10 grandchildren. For all of those 34 years I have whined about my choice to become a nurse rather than an artist. I've continued to draw and taken a few classes and won a few awards here and there, but I am sick of whining! I just decided to start a business drawing custom pencil portraits. One of my goals with this new business is to provide affordable portraits and drawings for everyone. You give me a photo you love and I will draw it! I have posted some samples of my work to the side. I cannot tell you what joy I am feeling over this new idea!!! I can't wait to get drawing so email me at larilue@gmail.com

  1. I know some of the people in these drawings and it's uncanny to me how you can capture them so well. I feel like I can see their personalities. You are so talented!

  5. The first photo of a Father and Daughter was done for my husband for Father's Day. It brought him to tears when he opened this unique, one of a kind gift. The first thing he did when we arrived home from dinner was hand this picture in his office.
Thank you Lari, for such a beautiful drawing!
